I read on a.m.m. that Rhino is planning
to release "Monkees Music Box", and decided
to go to the site to see if there was
any more info.  It's planned to be released
by February 13 (Peter's Birthday!), and that's
all which is mentioned on this collection.
I wonder if it's going to be like the Anthology revamped.

Micky was on the Chicago oldies station, 104.3, on Halloween morning.  They
were having "celebrity Frankensteins," which consisted of having celebrities
say, "It's alive!  It's alive!" in goofy Frankenstein voices.  (And then
people would call up and guess the identity for prizes.)  The sample, or
demonstation, Frankenstein, turned out to be Micky.  (Doing "It's alive!"
with gusto; I couldn't tell at all who it was!)  Then the deejay explained
who it was, and there was a clip where he said something like, "Hi, this is
Micky Dolenz for the Halloween... thing.  It's alive!  It's alive!"

It was funny!

I wanted to share the news that Micky is mentioned in humorist Dave Barry's
new book Dave Barry Is Not Taking This Sitting Down! In the first chapter, he
discusses his guest appearance on the television talk show Politically
Incorrect with other guests Micky Dolenz and Vicki Lawrence. He also
discusses how he and Micky got into an argument about current events on the
show. It is a great book, in my opinion.
Thank you,

Hey, hey -- the Monkees set to tour again

By Gary Graff

DETROIT (Reuters) - Hey hey, they're the Monkees again.

Three members of the made-for-TV pop quartet, formed in 1965 for an NBC
sitcom about a Beatles-like band, plan to reunite next year for their first
tour together in more than four years, producer David Fishof said Tuesday.

Davy Jones, Micky Dolenz and Peter Tork will embark in March on a 15-city
``Monkee Mania Returns 2001'' tour, the New York-based producer said. If the
outing is successful, Fishof hopes to extend it around the world, possibly
even including an extended stay on Broadway.

``I went back with it because I really feel there's a market for them. The
time's right,'' said Fishof, who produced the Monkees' successful reunion
tours in 1986 and 1987. Those tours were spurred by the rebroadcast of the
series on cable music network MTV at that time.

With hits such as ``Daydream Believer,'' ``I'm a Believer,'' ''Last Train to
Clarksville'' and ``(I'm Not Your) Steppin' Stone,'' the Monkees inhabited
the top of the pop charts during the TV show's 1966-1968 run on NBC and have
sold tens of millions of albums. The group also released a poorly received
feature film, ``Head,'' in 1968 before breaking up at the end of 1969.

Despite acrimonious relationships, the Monkees have reunited several times
during the past 15 years. In 1996 the original quartet, including Mike
Nesmith, recorded a new album, ''Justus,'' and did a short tour. Nesmith
ultimately dropped out while the other three Monkees performed in North
America that year. Jones went on to tour in a ``Teen Idols'' nostalgia
package with Bobby Sherman and Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits.

Fishof said a recent episode of cable channel VH1's ``Behind the Music''
dedicated to the band as well as the network's original movie about the
group's career has rekindled interest and even drove sales of the Monkees'
most recent ``Greatest Hits'' album to more than 500,000 copies.

One of the shows on the upcoming tour will be filmed for a TV special and a
subsequent home video release, Fishof said. Rhino Records, meanwhile, plans
to release a reconfigured version of the 1991 box set ``Listen to the Band''
to coincide with the tour. The itinerary for the tour has not been set.

Live at the Palais
We're working away on getting the Live at the Palais CD out in time for the holidays. It will be close but hopefully before the end of the second week of December. That's what we're trying for anyway. There will be additional tracks from other concerts included on the CD.

If you don't have a chance to stop by Videoranch before the holidays, have a great holiday season and a Happy New Year.

Sincerely yours,
Navajo Slim and Neffie
